Reworked Regeneration site detail, now on mobile too
The first section of a Regeneration site detail has been redesigned with a Location card carrying municipality, region, country and coordinates, and the same page finally opens on a phone as well. In Monitoring, map legends no longer present the mean as if it were the maximum, and the heat-island matrix explains when data is unavailable instead of disappearing.

rigenerazione-dettaglio-sito-rinnovatoThe first section of a Regeneration site page has been redesigned to give every piece of content the space it genuinely deserves. Until yesterday the project description and the map split the row exactly in half: the text stayed squeezed into a narrow column and often wrapped after just a few words, while the map took up a lot of space without telling you anything more. The description now takes the wide column and gains an explicit heading, "Project description", right next to the edit control for people with writing rights. The map shrinks into a dedicated card on the right, titled "Location", which alongside the satellite image also reports where the site actually is: municipality, region, country and coordinates, one row under the other. If one of those details is unavailable, the corresponding row simply is not shown, so you never come across empty fields or dashes standing in for data. The figures that previously appeared only by clicking the map pin — protected plants, wildlife shelters and bio-lakes — have become expandable rows under the map, always visible and readable without having to guess where to click. Each row opens up to show the breakdown by species or by type and only appears when there is genuinely something to count, so the card stays short on simpler sites. The pin popup has been switched off on this map so the same figures are not repeated twice, while the maps you embed in other websites keep working exactly as before. Regeneration site details now open on a phone as well
rigenerazione-sito-da-telefonoOpening the detail of a Regeneration site from a phone led into a dead end: the page announced that the section was only available on a computer and showed nothing at all about the site. That same page now also exists in a small-screen version and presents the site's main content without you having to go looking for a computer. Below a certain width the two columns turn into a two-way switch, "Description" and "Map", so you move from the text to the site's position with a tap and neither of the two gets squashed. The project description is shown shortened, with a "Read more" control that expands it, because a long text would otherwise fill the whole screen before you reach the rest of the page. The site actions are there too: the two most used ones sit out in the open, while the others are gathered behind an "Other actions" entry so the screen is not crowded with buttons. At the bottom of the page a note clarifies which deeper sections remain available only on a computer for now, so you know what to expect and do not go hunting for something in vain. The location card is the same one as on the computer version, so municipality, region, country and coordinates are within reach even when you are out and about. That is the most useful case of all: checking a site's details while standing on it, with nothing but your phone in hand. 4 updatesMap legends label the mean instead of passing it off as the maximum
legenda-media-etichettataOn the legend of some map layers the number shown as the maximum value was in fact the area's mean value, and the mean was not labelled anywhere. The clearest case was night-time land surface temperature, for which the source data does not report a usable maximum over the area: the legend filled that empty slot with the mean and presented it as if it were the top end of the scale. Anyone reading the map was therefore faced with a range narrower than the real one, and with a number whose meaning was completely different from the one stated. That end point is no longer passed off as a minimum or a maximum: it stays labelled as the mean, in its own colour, and hovering over it brings up an explanation stating clearly that the source data does not report that end point and that the bracket stops at the mean. The mean's own label, which in these cases was discarded because it looked like a duplicate of the end point, is never dropped again under any circumstances. The check that prevents labels from overlapping now works only on the labels actually drawn, so it no longer happens that one takes the other away with it. On layers where minimum, mean and maximum all arrive consistently the legend is identical to before, so nothing changes where it already worked correctly. The fix is shared by every legend with a numeric scale, so it also applies to daytime temperature, to the vegetation health index and to the other layers with measured values. Heat islands now explain when data is unavailable
isole-di-calore-stato-vuotoThe heat-island matrix, which shows month by month how much of the site suffers from excessive heat, in some cases disappeared from the page altogether. It happened when the data existed as a structure but was all zeros, that is when processing for that site had never been completed: the platform preferred to remove the panel rather than show it empty. The effect on the reader was worse than the problem itself: no matrix, no message and no way of telling whether the metric was missing, switched off or simply not ready yet. The panel now stays where it is and shows a dedicated message explaining that the data is unavailable for that site, in the same form already used by the other Monitoring metrics. The check looks at both the site area and the comparison area, so a site with values in only one of the two keeps showing the full matrix. Sites for which the metric has never been calculated behave as before, with the section not appearing at all, because in that case there is nothing to explain. The maps and panels you embed in other websites are also unchanged and do not show messages of this kind. The practical benefit is that you now always know where your site stands and can ask for the missing processing instead of believing the metric does not exist.
