The future climate trend KPI presents projections of climatic variables based on CMIP6 models (Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6) with the associated SSP (Shared Socioeconomic Pathways) scenarios. The KPI visualises the expected evolution of temperature, precipitation and other climatic variables up to 2100, allowing the current conditions of each site to be contextualised within the long-term climate change framework.
This is a visualisation-only KPI: it does not produce a synthetic index or quality level, but provides a graphical representation of future climate trajectories under different emission scenarios, facilitating the understanding of climate risks and the planning of adaptive strategies.
| Scenario | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| SSP1-2.6 | Sustainability | Transition to renewables; warming < 2 °C by 2100 |
| SSP2-4.5 | Middle of the road | Moderate climate policies; warming ~2.5 °C by 2100 |
| SSP3-7.0 | Regional rivalry | Geopolitical fragmentation; warming ~3.5 °C by 2100 |
| SSP5-8.5 | Fossil-fuelled development | High-carbon development; warming ~4.5 °C by 2100 |
Data come from the Open-Meteo Climate API, based on the CMIP6 dataset. The spatial resolution is approximately 10 km, with projections available up to 2050+ (some models up to 2100). Values are extracted for the geographic coordinates of the site and aggregated at monthly or annual level for visualisation.
