Future Climate — Cloud Cover

Overview

The Future Climate — Cloud Cover indicator shows projections of mean cloud cover percentage based on CMIP6 climate models. Cloud cover directly influences solar radiation at the surface, temperature, evapotranspiration, and vegetation phenological cycles.

Changes in cloudiness can significantly alter ecosystem energy balance, photosynthetic productivity, and local thermal regimes.

Calculation Methodology

Data come from the Open-Meteo Climate Change API (CMIP6 models). The variable used is cloud_cover (mean cloud cover percentage). Data are interpolated to the site's geographic position.
