The Historical Climate — Cloud Cover indicator shows the historical trend of mean sky cloud cover percentage. For each day in the selected period, mean, maximum, and minimum values are provided.
Cloud cover directly influences the solar radiation reaching the ground, modulating surface temperatures, evapotranspiration, and vegetation phenological rhythms. Long-term variations in cloud cover may indicate changes in atmospheric circulation patterns and local energy balance.
Data come from the Open-Meteo Historical Weather API, providing global historical weather series from 1940 to the present. The variable used is cloud_cover (daily mean, maximum, and minimum total cloud cover). Data are interpolated to the site's geographic position.
