Time-of-day window in charts and a text editor in reports
You can filter data by time of day and compare several trends together, while the report generator adds a visual text editor; we also fix the API usage count, the grids on Firefox and scrolling on the monitoring page.
New Features
6 updatesFilter data by time of day
finestra-orariaWe have introduced the ability to filter data by time of day, a much-requested feature for those who study the behaviour of pollinators and wildlife. In the date pickers you now also find an option to choose a time window, for example only the central hours of the day or only the early morning. This lets you isolate the most interesting moments of the day and observe how activity changes between dawn, noon and dusk. The new feature is linked both to the pollinators detail and to the charts based on acoustic recordings. The controls use clear dropdown menus, so setting the time window is simple and immediate. To try it go to XNatura → Monitoring → Site → Pollinators and open the date picker, where you find the new time-window option. Choose the interval you are interested in and the data updates accordingly. Analysing the daily rhythms of biodiversity thus becomes much more precise.
Compare several trends together on the same chart
multi-selezione-trendThe multi-year trends chart now lets you select several types of trend at the same time. Before, you could view only one series at a time, whereas now you can overlay several indicators on the same chart to compare them directly. This makes it much easier to grasp relationships and differences between the various metrics over the years. For example, you can compare the trend of several indicators and understand whether they rise or fall together. Multiple selection is enabled simply by choosing the items you are interested in from the interactive legend. To use it go to XNatura → Monitoring → Site → Multi-year trends and select the trend types you want to see together. The chart redraws instantly, showing all the chosen series. Comparing several trends at a glance helps you read the evolution of your site better.
Visual text editor and margins in reports
editor-testo-reportThe report generator introduces a true visual text editor, in which you immediately see how the content will look while you write it. You can format text directly, without having to remember particular commands or syntax, getting polished documents with minimal effort. We have also added page margin control, crisper square borders for a more professional look, and a new setting that leaves the cover off by default when it is not needed. These options give you much more control over the final appearance of the document. The result is more elegant, consistent reports that are easy to customise to your needs. To try the new features go to XNatura → Monitoring → Site → Report and edit a text block or the page settings. You will immediately see the visual editor and the new layout controls. Creating a professional-looking document has never been so intuitive.
Bug Fixes
6 updatesMore accurate API usage count
conteggio-utilizzo-apiWe have fixed the count shown in the box that summarises API call usage. Previously the displayed value might not match the one actually counted towards your plan's limits, causing a bit of confusion. Now the box correctly sums all the call types that count towards the limit, showing a figure perfectly aligned with what is actually enforced. This lets you keep your usage under control reliably and avoid surprises. The fix is particularly useful for those who have integrated the platform with external systems through API keys. To see the updated figure go to XNatura → Settings → API Keys and check the usage box. The number shown now faithfully reflects the real situation. Having reliable usage data makes it easier to plan your integrations.
Well-aligned grids on Firefox too
griglia-osservazioni-firefoxWe have fixed a display issue that occurred in the Firefox browser. In the observations and statistics grids, some cells could overlap or become misaligned, making the data hard to read. The defect particularly affected those who used the platform with Firefox, while on other browsers everything worked correctly. Now the grids lay out neatly and regularly on all supported browsers, with no overlaps. This guarantees a consistent experience regardless of the program you use to browse. The fix is already active automatically, you don't have to update anything. To verify it go to XNatura → Monitoring → Census and open the observations or statistics grids. The contents appear aligned and clearly readable as intended.
Improvements
6 updatesSmoother scrolling on the monitoring page
scorrimento-fluido-monitoringWe have eliminated an annoying flickering effect that in some cases occurred while scrolling the monitoring page. It was a small loop that made the page vibrate quickly and repeatedly, making scrolling jerky and at times tiring on the eyes. The problem could show up especially on long lists or when the page contained many elements to refresh. We have identified the cause and made scrolling stable and smooth in every situation. Now browsing through the monitoring content is more comfortable and restful. The improvement is already active automatically for everyone, with no action needed. To appreciate it go to XNatura → Monitoring and scroll the page freely. Scrolling will be smooth and free of jolts.
