Unified sensor cards and a field journal for transects
The sensor cards on the map are now unified and the markers clearer, transects gain a true field journal with photos and notes, while tidier map controls, device battery status, area-file uploads up to 64 MB and better-paginated report tables also arrive.
New Features
6 updatesUnified sensor cards and clearer markers
schede-sensore-unificateWe have unified and improved the information cards that open when you tap a sensor or a mount on the map. Now, whether you open an observation point, a mount or a sensor, you always find the same clear and complete card, with the main statistics and the latest collected observations. The same consistent experience is also available on smartphone, so the information is always presented in the same way wherever you work. We have also redesigned the markers on the map: a more sober colour palette is applied to all mounts, the points dedicated to acoustic monitoring show the pollinator icon and the mount markers have a white border that makes them clearly visible even over satellite imagery. On mobile the audio player for recordings is now fully visible. All these refinements make the map tidier and the information easier to consult. To see the changes go to XNatura → Monitoring → Site → Map and tap a sensor or a mount. The new card will immediately show you everything you need, in a clear and uniform way.
Unified field journal for transects
media-transetti-diarioThe management of census transects takes a big leap forward with a true unified field journal. Now each transect collects in a single flow the photos, videos, notes and observations associated with it, ordered over time like a diary, so you can easily retrace all the work done on that route. We have enriched media management, making it simpler to upload, organise and delete images and videos directly from the transect. An overall overview of the transects is also available, with tools to manage them and keep the counts of collected observations under control. This helps those who coordinate the monitoring to always have a clear and up-to-date overall view. To explore the changes go to XNatura → Monitoring → Census → Transects and open a transect to see its journal. From there you can add content, filter by type and consult the complete history. Having all the field material in one place makes the work much more organised.
Tidier census map controls
controlli-mappa-censimentoWe have reorganised the census map controls to make it cleaner and easier to use. The buttons that were previously scattered are now gathered into a tidy group, so you find the tool you need more quickly. Among them there is a new button that opens the transects panel, from which you can consult and manage them without losing sight of the map. We have also fixed the wiring of the polygon edit button, which now correctly opens the area editor. The result is a tidier map, where the most frequent actions are always at hand. This reduces the clicks needed and makes field work smoother. To try the changes go to XNatura → Monitoring → Census → Map and look at the new group of controls. A clearer control panel helps you focus on the data instead of the interface.
Device battery status in the field
batteria-dispositivi-campoIn Field Mode you can now keep an eye on the charge level of your devices directly from the list of mounts. Next to each item in the list a small battery indicator appears, so you immediately understand which devices are charged and which might soon need attention. By opening a mount's card you also find more detailed information about the battery and the device's telemetry data. This is very useful when you are in the field and have to decide which mounts to prioritise during maintenance. Knowing the charge status in advance saves you unnecessary trips and helps you plan visits better. To use it open XNatura → Field Mode from your smartphone and consult the list of mounts. You will immediately see the battery indicator on each row and the full details in the individual mount's card. More careful monitoring of devices means an always-operational network.
Area-file uploads up to 64 MB
caricamento-kml-grandiWe have greatly increased the limit for uploading area files in the land-use editors. You can now upload much larger files, up to 64 megabytes, against the previous 4 megabytes. This means you can import very detailed perimeters and areas, with thousands of points and complex geometries, without running into errors or blocks. Large files are handled in a more robust way, so even the richest maps load reliably. The new feature is particularly useful for those who work on extensive territories or with very precise cartographic data. We have also updated the on-screen guidance to remind you of the new limit. To use it go to XNatura → Monitoring → Site → Land use and open the editor to upload an area file. Being able to import more detailed data opens the way to more accurate analyses.
Improvements
6 updatesLong tables well paginated across multiple pages
report-tabelle-multipaginaWe have further improved the handling of tables in the report generator. Particularly long tables are now automatically split from one page to the next, both in the editor preview and in the final PDF document. Before, it could happen that a table that was too tall got cut off or spilled outside the margins, making it hard to read. Now instead the content flows naturally onto the following pages, keeping headers and rows always readable. This is particularly useful for data-rich reports, where tables can contain many rows. The result is more professional documents that are always well laid out, ready to share. To see the improvement go to XNatura → Monitoring → Site → Report and insert a table with a lot of data. Even the bulkiest tables will look tidy and complete across all pages.
