GeoPackage upload for new sites and gallery filters
You can create sites by uploading GeoPackage and GeoJSON files and merge several areas into one, while a redesigned transect editor, land-use classification versions and a legend on pollinator activity arrive. Gallery filters, a report cover image, a more polished layer picker and a clearer risks section are also added.
New Features
9 updatesCreate sites from GeoPackage and GeoJSON files
nuovo-sito-geopackageCreating a new site from cartographic files becomes much more flexible. Now, in addition to the formats already supported, you can also upload GeoPackage and GeoJSON files, two formats very common among those who work with professional geographic data. If the file contains several separate areas, the platform lets you merge them into a single area in one step, avoiding having to handle them one by one. We have also extended this automatic area merging to all the points where polygons are edited, so the behaviour is always consistent across every part of the platform. This greatly simplifies the creation of complex sites from ready-made data. The result is a clean and correct perimeter from the very first moment, with no manual intervention. To try it go to XNatura → Monitoring → New site and upload your GeoPackage or GeoJSON file. If several areas are present, choose to merge them and you will immediately get a well-defined site.
Redesigned transect editor with areas in hectares
editor-transetti-modernoWe have redesigned the editor you use to draw and modify census transects, making it more modern and intuitive. Tracing a survey route is now simpler, with clearer tools and a smoother drawing experience on the map. In addition, the transects panel now shows the surfaces expressed in hectares, both for the area of interest and for the transects themselves. Seeing the surface right away helps you size the routes correctly and document the extent of the surveyed areas precisely. This is particularly useful when you have to comply with sampling protocols that require specific dimensions. Together, this makes managing transects more professional and less prone to errors. To use the new features go to XNatura → Monitoring → Census → Transects and open the drawing editor. You will find the new tools and the surfaces in hectares directly in the panel.
Save versions of the land-use classification
versioni-colorazione-suoloWorking on land-use classification becomes tidier thanks to version management. When you colour and classify a site's areas, you can now save the result as a new version, assigning it a label of your choice to recognise it easily. This way you can keep several variants of the same classification, compare them over time and go back to a previous version when needed. We have also made the upload of heavier layers more robust, so they are now handled reliably even when they contain a lot of detail. This gives you more freedom to experiment with different classifications without the fear of losing the work done. The version history makes the process transparent and traceable. To use the new feature go to XNatura → Monitoring → Site → Land use and save your colouring as a new version with a label. Having a tidy history of classifications simplifies the work in the long run.
Colour legend on pollinator activity
legenda-attivita-impollinatoriWe have added a colour-scale legend to the circular chart that summarises pollinator activity. This chart shows the intensity of the detected activity, and now a clear legend explains which value each colour corresponds to. Before, the colours were present but their meaning was not made explicit, leaving room for uncertain interpretations. With the new legend you can read the chart immediately and understand at a glance whether activity is low, medium or intense. This makes pollinator data easier to interpret, even for those who do not consult it every day. The legend automatically adapts to the values shown. To see it go to XNatura → Monitoring → Site → Pollinators and look at the circular chart with the new colour scale. A clear legend turns a nice chart into a truly useful analysis tool.
Plant and region filters in the gallery
filtri-galleriaThe image gallery of your profile gains new filters to find what you are looking for more quickly. You can now filter the photos by plant and by region, narrowing the view to only the images you are interested in. This is very useful when the gallery contains many photographs collected from different sites and you want to focus on a plant species or a specific geographic area. The filters combine with each other, so you can refine the search down to the desired result. Finding the right image becomes much faster, without having to scroll for a long time. The gallery thus stays tidy and pleasant to explore even when there are many photos. To use them go to XNatura → Gallery and select the plant and region filters at the top. Your collection of images will always be at hand and easy to consult.
Full-page cover image in reports
immagine-copertina-reportThe report generator now lets you use a full-page background image for the cover of your documents. You can choose a photograph that completely fills the opening page, giving your reports a more striking and professional look from the very first glance. This is perfect for presenting a site with a beautiful image of the territory or for adding a polished touch to reports intended for clients and partners. The image automatically adapts to the page size, with no white borders or empty spaces. A well-made cover makes the document immediately recognisable and pleasant to browse. The new option sits alongside the other cover customisation settings. To use it go to XNatura → Monitoring → Site → Report and set a background image for the cover. Your report will make a good impression even before it is opened.
Bug Fixes
9 updatesVisible progress during land-use classification
avanzamento-colorazione-suoloWe have fixed an issue related to the progress indication during the generation of land-use classifications. In some cases, for example when relaunching the colouring or resuming a processing already started, the progress bar was not shown, leaving you without a clear indication of what was happening. Now the progress is displayed correctly in all these situations, so you always know that the processing is under way and how far along it is. This avoids the impression that the platform is stuck and lets you wait for the result more calmly. The fix is already active automatically for all users. Seeing the progress status makes the process more transparent and reliable. To notice it go to XNatura → Monitoring → Site → Land use and start or relaunch a colouring. You will see the progress bar accompany you all the way to completion.
Improvements
9 updatesMore polished map layer picker
selettore-livelli-mappaWe have improved the panel you use to choose the layers to display on the map. The panel is now tidier and more comfortable to use, with a well-managed scrollbar even when there are many available layers. We have added a small label dedicated to the site perimeter, a search box to quickly find the layer you are looking for and thumbnails that help you recognise each layer at a glance. This makes it much faster to turn the various information layers on and off, even when you have a large number of them available. The small graphic refinements make the experience cleaner and more pleasant. Finding the right layer takes no more than a few seconds. To try it go to XNatura → Monitoring → Site → Map → Layers and open the picker. Search, scroll and turn on the layers with the utmost ease.
Clearer site risks section
tab-rischi-chiaraWe have made the section dedicated to the site's risks clearer, eliminating possible confusion between similar tabs. The items are now distinguished unambiguously, so you always know which type of risk you are consulting. We have also reordered the information boxes within the section, highlighting the most important elements first. This new arrangement makes it more intuitive to read and compare the various risk indicators. The result is a tidier overview, in which every piece of information finds its logical place. This helps you make more informed decisions about managing the site. To see the changes go to XNatura → Monitoring → Site → Risks and scroll through the reorganised boxes. A clearer section makes it easier to keep risk factors under control.
