Reports saved on the server and new project maps
Reports now save themselves on the server, with a version history, new gallery blocks and more expressive weather charts. The Overview gains redesigned territory and supporter maps, an editable project timeline and the plant breakdown in Regeneration.
New Features
16 updatesReports save themselves and you can pick them up whenever you want
report-documenti-serverWe've turned the report generator into a real workspace: every document you start is now created and kept on your profile, with no need to press Save. As soon as you enter the generator — from the menu, starting from a template or simply by editing a block — the platform automatically prepares a draft and keeps it up to date while you work. This means you no longer risk losing your work if you close the browser, switch device or get interrupted by something else. A status bar at the top always tells you whether the document is a draft in progress, when it was last saved and whether it has already been completed. When you're done you can mark the document as finished and, if you later need an update, reopen it and carry on from where you left off. All the documents you create stay listed and reachable, so you can keep track of the reports prepared for each site over time. To try it, go to XNatura → Monitoring → Site → Report and start composing a document: you'll immediately see the saving status appear. We recommend giving the document a recognisable title as soon as you open it, so it will be easier to find in the list.
Version history with report restore
report-cronologia-versioniWe've added a panel dedicated to the document's history to the report generator, which keeps track of how your work evolves. While you compose the report the platform automatically saves restore points, so every important stage of the drafting is preserved. If you realise you've deleted a block by mistake, upset the layout or simply prefer an earlier version, you can go back in a few clicks. The panel lists the various restore points in chronological order, showing when they were created, so you can pick exactly the moment you want to return to. This gives you much more freedom to experiment with the content, because you know any change is reversible and you no longer need to keep backup copies on the side. To use it, go to XNatura → Monitoring → Site → Report, open a document and call up the history panel. Restoring replaces the current content with that of the chosen point, so we recommend taking a look at the version before confirming. It's a safety net that makes preparing reports far more relaxed, especially when you're working on long documents.
New gallery blocks and a block with your logo
report-blocchi-galleriaWe've expanded the report generator's block library with three new image galleries and a block dedicated to your visual identity. The new galleries let you add the photos of the observed species, the images of the regeneration work and the shots from the camera traps installed on the site to your document. The images are taken automatically from the material already available on your site, so you don't have to upload them again one by one. For each gallery you can choose which content to show and how to lay it out, balancing text and images within the report. The new brand block instead lets you insert your organisation's logo and visual references, for documents that are consistent with your image. This way the report becomes a far more visual and recognisable story, ideal to show to partners, clients and stakeholders. To try them, go to XNatura → Monitoring → Site → Report, add a new block and look for the entries dedicated to galleries and to the brand. We suggest alternating a gallery with a text section, so the document stays light and pleasant to browse.
Weather charts with comparison and colour bands
report-grafici-meteo-deltaThe blocks with the weather indicators in the report generator become more expressive and easier to interpret. You can now show the difference between the value of the period you're analysing and a reference value, so readers immediately understand whether the figure is above or below the norm. We've also added colour banding: values are shown in different colours depending on the range they fall into, highlighting at a glance the situations that deserve attention. This makes the charts far more communicative even for those who aren't used to reading series of numbers. We've also made the territorial reference of the temperature and rainfall indicators consistent, so they now always refer to the area of the site you're analysing. The result is weather data that is more reliable and comparable from one report to the next. To configure them, go to XNatura → Monitoring → Site → Report, insert an indicator block and choose the comparison and colouring options. We recommend switching on the comparison when you present a season's trend, because the difference from the reference is often the most interesting figure to tell.
Redesigned territory map with filters by type
mappa-territorio-progettiWe've completely redesigned the territory map in the Overview, the section that gathers all the projects linked to your profile. The list next to the map now shows labels indicating the type of each project, with dedicated colours that make it immediate to tell the different initiatives apart. Above the map you'll find a new full-width bar with search and quick filters by type, so you can isolate just the projects you're interested in within moments. The territories are also grouped by geographical area, with a north-south split that helps you get your bearings when the projects are numerous and spread across very distant areas. This new organisation saves you time when you need to find a specific project or present only part of the activities to someone. The same experience is available on smartphones too, with the toolbar adapted to the smaller screen. To discover it, go to XNatura → Overview and scroll down to the territory map. We recommend combining the search by name with the filters by type, because it's the fastest way to reach the right project.
The supporters map now tells adoption types apart
mappa-sostenitori-adozioniThe map dedicated to the project's supporters also gains new visual information. In the list of areas you'll now find labels indicating the type of adoption present in each territory, accompanied by coloured accents consistent with the category. This way you immediately understand where the different forms of support are concentrated, without having to open each entry to discover its content. This immediate reading is very useful when you tell colleagues, partners or the whole community about participation in the project. It also helps you recognise the areas where a certain type of adoption is more present and those where there is instead room to grow. The colours follow the same logic used across the rest of the platform, so the experience stays consistent and easy to remember. To see it, go to XNatura → Overview and scroll down to the supporters map. We recommend using this view when you prepare a presentation, because the coloured labels make the picture understandable in a few seconds.
Edit and delete projects from the timeline
cronologia-progetti-modificaThe project timeline, the bar view that shows how long the initiatives on your territory last, becomes editable directly from the platform. If you have management permissions, every bar corresponding to a project you can administer now shows the commands to edit or delete it, with no need to go through support. The editing form has been redesigned with a more polished look: the type is chosen with a selector you can search by typing, extremely handy when there are many categories available. The start and end dates are set with calendars, so you no longer have to type the correct format by hand and you avoid entry errors. Projects that are not under your management stay visible but without editing commands, to prevent accidental changes to data that isn't yours. This way you can keep the timeline always up to date and faithful to the real state of the activities on the territory. To use it, go to XNatura → Overview → Project timeline and open the time view. We recommend checking the end dates of ongoing projects, because an up-to-date timeline makes telling the story of your work far more effective.
Plant and CO2 breakdown in Regeneration
rigenerazione-dettaglio-piante-co2In the Overview, the card dedicated to Regeneration now shows a breakdown that explains where the figures you see come from. Besides the total, you can consult the split by plant species and understand how many plants of each type have been planted and how much they contribute to the carbon dioxide absorbed. This level of detail is much requested when you have to substantiate the project's environmental results or answer precise questions from partners and stakeholders. The breakdown appears directly in the card, with no need to open other pages or download files. We've also aligned the indicator labels across all the platform's languages, so the values are described clearly and consistently. To consult it, go to XNatura → Overview and open the Regeneration card. On smartphones the census section stays hidden instead, because it needs a wider screen to be consulted properly: you'll find it on a computer. We recommend using the breakdown by species when you prepare a report, because these are figures that make the story immediately concrete.
The Media Kit becomes a section you can switch on
mediakit-attivabileThe Media Kit, the section where you find the project's communication material, becomes a feature that can be switched on or off like the platform's other sections. From today it is active by default, so you'll already find it available in the side menu without having to do anything. Whoever manages the platform can however decide to hide it from the settings, for example when the material isn't ready yet or isn't planned for a particular project. When the section is switched off the entry doesn't appear in the menu and the page can't be reached, so the experience stays clean and free of empty pages. This makes it possible to tailor the platform to each project better, showing only the sections that really have content to offer. To reach the section, go to XNatura → Media Kit from the side menu. If you can't see it, it means it has been switched off for your project, and you can ask whoever manages it to enable it. It's a small settings change that makes the menu match what each project really offers.
Bug Fixes
16 updatesPDF export without blank gaps and clearer waits
report-export-affidabileWe've fixed a series of situations that could spoil the look of the report exported to PDF. Image blocks left empty no longer produce a white box in the final document, because they simply aren't printed and the layout stays clean. The same applies to multi-date map grids that haven't been configured yet, which previously could generate incomplete pages. We've added a loading indicator on the map grids, so you understand that the processing is under way and don't think something has got stuck. We then fixed the generation request for maps with banded thresholds, which in some cases didn't start correctly. Finally, when preparing a piece of content takes longer than expected, the platform retries automatically instead of showing you an error. To benefit from this, go to XNatura → Monitoring → Site → Report and export a document: you'll notice a tidier, more predictable result. You don't need to do anything to enable these fixes, they are already available for all reports.
Consistent CO2 figures and impact visible on smartphones
panoramica-co2-coerenteWe've fixed some inconsistencies in the Overview figures related to regeneration, for a reading you can always rely on. The amount of carbon dioxide absorbed and the nectar potential now follow the year selector: when you change period these values update along with all the others. Previously they could stay fixed on a different reference, giving the impression of a figure inconsistent with the rest of the page. We've also unified the calculation and the title of the CO2 indicator between the Overview and the Regeneration section, so the same figure is described and calculated in the same way across the whole platform. Finally, on smartphones the section summarising the impact generated by the project was hidden, whereas it is now correctly visible on small screens too. These fixes let you quote the figures with confidence, knowing they match on every page. To check them, go to XNatura → Overview and try changing the selected year. They are already active for all projects and require no action on your part.
Clearer indicator cards on smartphones
kpi-mobile-monitoraggioWe've improved the cards with the main Monitoring indicators when you use the platform from your phone. The pollinator abundance indicator now uses the correct scale, so the value shown is comparable with the one you see on a computer. Changes compared with the previous period are presented neutrally when an increase or a decrease is not in itself a positive or negative result, whereas previously the colour could suggest a misplaced judgement. We've also reordered the cards, putting first the ones that are most useful to check quickly when you're on the move. Overall, reading the indicators on a smartphone becomes more faithful and less ambiguous. This is particularly useful when you check the data while you're out in the field and need an immediate picture. To see them, open XNatura → Monitoring from your phone and scroll through the indicator cards. The fixes are already active and require no action on your part.
More consistent species and site caretaker cards
schede-specie-e-custodiWe've fixed two details in the pages dedicated to the site's regeneration and biodiversity. In the lists of pollinators and wildlife shelters, the button that opens the in-depth card appeared even when the card wasn't available, leading to a page with no content. Now the button is shown only when there really is something more to read, avoiding dead ends. We then fixed the section that presents who takes care of the site, because if the person indicated had no photograph the whole card wasn't shown. Now the reference always appears, with a placeholder image consistent with the platform's style in place of the missing photo. This way the story of the people who look after the territory stays complete even when a detail is missing. To check them, go to XNatura → Regeneration and open your site's page. Both fixes are already active and require no action on your part.
Improvements
16 updatesActive sensors now live in the Monitoring card
sensori-nel-monitoraggioWe've reorganised the way the Overview tells you about the devices installed in the field. Active sensors are no longer a separate label, but are presented as full-size cards inside the block dedicated to Monitoring, together with that area's other indicators. Each card shows a list with the sensors' status, so you immediately understand how many are active and how they're working. We've added a card footer with the summary information and a contextual hint that adapts to the type of device, explaining in simple words what it measures. This new arrangement reduces the fragmentation of the information and lets you read everything about the site's instrumental monitoring in one place. The numbers section has been adapted on smartphones too, so the content stays readable and tidy. To see it, go to XNatura → Overview and open the block dedicated to Monitoring. We recommend taking a look at the status list before analysing the data, because knowing which sensors are active helps you interpret the measurements correctly.
Storytelling cards more compact and scrollable
storytelling-schede-scorrevoliWe've worked on the Storytelling chapter cards to make them more compact and comfortable to read on any screen. The cards of the chapter dedicated to the narrative no longer exceed the height of the window: when the text is long it now scrolls inside the card, instead of making the page grow endlessly. The introductory chapter has cards of reduced height with internal scrolling, so the structure of the story stays visible while you read. The images of the chapter dedicated to the life of the project have been turned into a strip you browse horizontally, a format that is far more natural both with a mouse and with a finger. We've also fixed an annoyance that appeared after uploading the cover image, when in some cases the page stayed stuck and you couldn't scroll any more until a manual reload. Now scrolling is correctly released as soon as the upload is complete. To discover these improvements, go to XNatura → Overview → Storytelling and browse the chapters of your story. The experience is especially more pleasant on smartphones and tablets, where vertical space is precious.
Built-in confirmations and a more discreet Clear command
report-conferme-in-appWe've made the actions that significantly change a report more polished and safer. Confirmation requests no longer appear as raw browser alerts, but as windows built into the platform's interface, with the same style and clarity as the rest of the screens. The message explains better what is about to happen and lets you cancel with peace of mind if you clicked by mistake. We've also moved the command that clears the document into the three-dot menu, because it was previously too prominent next to the everyday actions and could be pressed by mistake. Clearing the report now takes two deliberate steps, with an explicit confirmation before proceeding. This reduces the risk of losing your work with a careless click. To notice the difference, go to XNatura → Monitoring → Site → Report and open the document's actions menu. It's a small refinement, but one that makes working on long, carefully built documents far more relaxed.
