New map toolbar and time-based gallery
We redesigned the map toolbar, made the layer picker smarter, added the time gallery for multi-date maps, and improved the census, post-purchase onboarding, and the filters on site progress.
New Features
8 updatesNew map toolbar
barra-strumenti-mappaWe have completely redesigned the toolbar you find above the Monitoring map, making it tidier and more powerful. The commands are now organized into compact, readable chips that clearly show the available actions and the active filters. The old, very bulky button to create the perimeter has been replaced by a dedicated, more discreet chip, and we renamed the edit command to make it more understandable. The filters of sections such as Extreme Events, Aridity and Version History have been unified in the same style, so everything feels consistent. The new toolbar is based on the layers provided directly by the system, so it always shows the options actually available for your site. We also took care of accessibility, with better highlighting of elements selectable via keyboard. To try it, open a site's map in the Monitoring section. This new toolbar makes switching between tools during analysis much faster.
Time gallery for maps with multiple dates
galleria-temporaleWe have introduced a time gallery that lets you easily explore the map layers available on several different dates. Below the map, a strip appears with previews of the various acquisitions, so you can scroll through time and see how your area has changed. The gallery shows real thumbnails of each date, making it immediate to recognize the period you are interested in. You can start an automatic playback that scrolls the images one after another, accompanied by a progress bar. The strip is positioned so as not to cover the map and to be comfortable even on smaller screens. To try it, select a map layer that has multiple acquisitions over time. This feature is especially useful for observing seasonal evolution or the effect of interventions over the months. It turns the temporal comparison of satellite data into a visual, intuitive experience.
Guided welcome after purchase
onboarding-post-acquistoWe have introduced a welcome path designed for those who have just completed a purchase and access the platform for the first time. Right after logging in, a welcome window appears that introduces the first steps to take and helps you find your way among the available features. We fixed navigation to the census, so that those just starting out immediately find the right path without uncertainty. In addition, it is now simpler to start the procedure to connect a sensor to your site, with a more linear guided flow. This makes the start of the journey much more welcoming and reduces the sense of disorientation typical of the first times. The welcome window appears automatically on the first login after purchase. From there you can quickly reach the most important sections to get started. The goal is to make you feel at ease and operational on the platform right away.
Land-class filters in site progress
andamento-siti-filtriWe have enriched the section that shows the progress of and comparison between your sites with new filters based on land classes. You can now select a class family or a specific class to focus the analysis only on the areas that really interest you. The drill-down filter has become a convenient dropdown menu placed next to the version selector, keeping the interface tidy. The drill-down options show only the classes actually present in your data, avoiding unnecessary choices. We also improved the coloring of the scatter-plot points, which now accurately reflects the normalized value of each element. To use these filters, go to the section dedicated to site progress and open the drill-down menu. You will then be able to compare the evolution of the different land types in a targeted way. This makes comparative analysis much more precise and readable.
Bug Fixes
8 updatesMore reliable map generation status
stato-generazione-affidabileWe improved the way the platform informs you when a map or an analysis is being generated. Previously, in some cases, the progress indication could fail to appear or remain incomplete if several processes of different types were running. Now the system checks all generation categories in parallel, so you always see a clear central box signaling when content is being prepared. We also removed a redundant notification that could be confusing during the wait. This lets you understand with certainty whether you simply need to wait for completion. No action is required on your part: the improvement is already active for everyone. You will see the new behavior when you start generating a layer from the site map. This way you always know what is happening behind the scenes.
Improvements
8 updatesSmarter layer picker
selettore-livelli-intelligenteWe have deeply improved the map's layer picker, making it clearer and more reliable. The layers are now grouped by topic more consistently, for example pollinators, biodiversity indices and the new available layers, so you can find what you are looking for more easily. We added elegant fallback previews for layers that do not yet have an image, avoiding empty boxes. Subcategories that are too detailed are now collected under the main entry, keeping the list clean. The picker correctly shows when a layer has already been generated and when you can generate new ones, with clear messages about the state. We also reintroduced the correct visibility rules for administrators and active functionalities. To use it, open a site's map and choose the layer you want to view. These improvements make choosing the data to display much more intuitive.
Census and sensors referenced to the selected year
census-anno-correnteWe made the handling of dates in the census and sensor sections more consistent. Now, when you open the census, the date filter automatically sets itself to the selected year, avoiding accidentally showing data from irrelevant periods. The camera-trap and acoustic-monitoring galleries are also filtered based on the census year, so you always see material from the right period. We also fixed the way the last day of the range is considered in the pollinator analyses and in the hourly data, including it correctly. Within some embedded components, the year filter is no longer applied when it is not needed. This reduces confusion and makes the displayed data more accurate. To see these updates, open the Census section and select the year of interest. All linked content will update consistently. This way, analyzing your census is more reliable and immediate.
Redesigned stories viewer
visualizzatore-storieWe have revised the stories viewer to give you a smoother and more pleasant browsing experience. The new version presents content more clearly and tidily, making it more natural to scroll through the different screens. We also fixed a technical issue that, in some situations, caused the sidebar to keep reloading while navigating between stories. This made browsing unstable and sometimes annoying. Now navigation is stable and free of unwanted interruptions. Stories are an engaging way to tell the evolution and results of your site. To access them, open the section dedicated to stories within the platform. This rework makes telling the story of your environmental data even more effective.
