BREEAM Ecological Report by XNatura Experts
Earn BREEAM Land Use & Ecology credits (LE 01-05) with the XNatura Expert team: digitalized surveys, ecological value calculation (GN36), and professional reports verified by a Suitably Qualified Ecologist (SQE).
Framework
BREEAM Land Use & Ecology: a key category
The Land Use & Ecology category can account for up to 10% of the BREEAM score. The XNatura team covers assessment issues LE 01–05, using XNatura technology to make survey, analysis, and calculation processes more efficient, traceable, and communicable.
LE 01-02Site selection & risks
Our experts create the ecological baseline and analyze risks and opportunities.
LE 03Impacts on ecology
We define the mitigation hierarchy to protect existing habitats.
LE 04Ecological value
Our team performs the calculation of the change in ecological value (GN36).
LE 05Long term ecology management
We draft the complete LEMP, defining roles, responsibilities, and KPIs.
Business case
Our expertise, enhanced by technology
Our team of ecologists uses the XNatura platform to conduct rigorous and professional BREEAM assessments. The combination of human expertise and automation ensures traceable reports, reduces errors, and maximizes the quality of the final result.
- 01
Digital vegetation surveys
Our experts conduct professional field surveys (quadrats, transects) with XNatura, ensuring geo-referenced photos, assisted identification, and a complete audit trail, in line with CIEEM best practices.
- 02
Professional transect surveys
The XNatura team creates repeatable sampling designs (GPS tracking) and belt transects. XNatura supports us in analyzing the collected data for Route 1 (GN34) and Route 2 (GN36), ensuring statistical quality checks.
- 03
BREEAM calculations and supporting indicators
Our ecologists use XNatura to automate the calculation of the 'change in ecological value' (GN36 – Route 2), managing distinctiveness, condition, and strategic significance for an accurate and fast result.
Applicability
BREEAM: our international coverage
XNatura's consulting service, powered by the XNatura platform, supports BREEAM International and the main European national schemes (NSOs).
BREEAM International
We offer our expertise for New Construction, In-Use, Communities, and Refurbishment schemes, ensuring a methodological approach aligned with global standards.National schemes
Our consultants are proficient in all national BREEAM schemes (NL, ES, NOR, SE, DE/AT/CH via TÜV SÜD).EU Taxonomy Integration
We support our clients in mapping BREEAM credits to the EU Taxonomy (DNSH), providing the specific evidence required for compliance.
Compliance workflow
How XNatura Solves BREEAM Ecological Assessment Challenges
We digitize the entire workflow: from field surveys to GN36 (Route 2) calculations and SQE-ready reports.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does XNatura support all European BREEAM versions?
We support BREEAM International and the national schemes (NL, ES, NOR, SE, DE/AT/CH via TÜV SÜD), adapting to local requirements while maintaining consistency with BREEAM's ecology frameworks.
How does the change in ecological value calculation work?
For Route 2, we apply GN36: calculating distinctiveness, condition, and strategic significance, then the change in ecological value with credit benchmarks for LE 03/LE 04. For Route 1, we use GN34 (and its related baseline methodology).
What survey methodologies are supported?
Quadrat sampling (1–20 m²), line/belt transects, point-intercept, and stratified sampling; GPS, phenological timestamps, validation, and GIS compatibility. Compliant with CIEEM best practices.
Are the reports ready for review by an SQE?
Yes. The reports include an executive summary, methodology, raw data, GIS maps, transparent calculations (GN34/GN36), limitations, and recommendations, with a full audit trail for QA — structured for SQE review.
